Tip of the day: Link to an specific image

We recently added a nice feature for you: with the URL extension flickr:*yourPhotoID* you can directly link to this specific image. Now you can finally use loc.alize.us as the perfect geo based postcard replacement for your friends and family at home.

As an example: http://loc.alize.us/#flickr:253043027/

PS. You don't know where to get the Flickr photo ID from? Compare the two URLs, one linking to Flickr, one to the same photo in loc.alize.us:

http://loc.alize.us/#flickr:289238236/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/alexpgp/289238236/

Display Images of a Specific User

Choose your way:

Try the people search

Click at the user name in the image view

Hack the URL and add the user:username
For example: http://loc.alize.us/#/user:mikk/

Search for a Place

Use the link "Find your place!" on the top left. The interface will change slightly.

Sample search terms are:
  • Hamburg, Germany
  • Hamburg
  • Germany
  • Schäferstr. 24, Hamburg, Germany (for streetlevel accuracy)
  • W 110th street, NYC
  • NYC
  • 10005 (a ZIP code of downtown Manhattan)
  • 62703 or Springfield, IL (for Springfield, Illinois)
Be creative in searching and try some varying search terms! For different countries we have different accuracy levels in address data.

Tip of the day: back-/forward

To save traffic and offer a more convenient web application, loc.alize.us does not reload the whole page. Only the map tiles and the contents shown on the map are transferred.

Nevertheless the back/forward navigation provided by your web browser works. Try it to find back to the place where you started your journey!

Filter by Tag

Choose your way:

Select a tag from the tagcloud

Use the tag-search

Directly hack the URL. For example: http://loc.alize.us/#/tag:snow/

Hackable URLs

We believe in URLs! You can easily share and bookmark every single place on earth. Some examples:

http://loc.alize.us/#/geo:35.667,139.748,13,k/ for the geo located photos in Tokyo, Japan on a satellite map.

http://loc.alize.us/#/user:flickr.niznoz/ for the Flickr photos of specific user niznoz.

http://loc.alize.us/#/tag:sunset/ for the most romaintic photos on loc.alize.us showing a sunset.

http://loc.alize.us/#/page:2/ for images #51-100, if there are more than 50 photos located on the map.

Try to combine the search parameters as in http://loc.alize.us/#/user:mikk/tag:nyc/geo:40.71417,-74.00639,12,k/page:1/ The order of the parameters does not matter.

To share a loc.alize.us map view, just copy the URL from the browser address bar and post it anywhere on the net or send it via email!
